Our
Guest Contributor this month is Stentiford family member, Roy Hewitt. He
and his wife Pat, are members of The Western Front Association and they
regularly visit World War 1 battlefields and cemeteries. After their
2001 visit, Roy produced an excellent booklet about Frederick John
Stentiford (who, incidentally is not in Roy's Family Tree) which he
presented to the Devon Family History Society. His initial interest has
expanded and he now lectures regularly to interested groups in his
locality. He can be contacted through patroy@tesco.net

Frederick John Stentiford was one of the seven sons of George
Stentiford and Sarah Martin. He was born at Honicknowle on the outskirts
of Plymouth where his father was a policeman. When George Stentiford was
promoted to sergeant, the family moved across Devon to Axminster where
they remained.
